MOMENTUM BASKETBALL

Toronto’s Premier Rep Teams
and Houseleagues

WHY MOMENTUM?

Established in 2023, Momentum prides itself on being different. Through the application of our proprietary Mitrovic Method, our programs feature a blend of European and North American basketball styles aimed at true player development and maximizing player potential.

The development comes through an emphasis on fostering a deep understanding of the game, learning how to apply and progress fundamental skills to live action, and playing a brand of positionless basketball. We place significant focus on balancing a healthy competitive environment with the joy and fun of playing sports and provide a positive and supportive environment for our athletes to help them grow their mindsets. Our world-class staff is composed only of professional coaches (no parent coaches) who are dedicated to ensuring each child’s journey through the sport is both productive and fulfilling, and who are committed to working together with parents to help navigate that development collaboratively.

By consistently applying the Mitrovic Method across all programs, every athlete who participates in Momentum Basketball is exposed to the appropriate variations of the same ideologies and principles. Our Houseleague (SFF Development League) players are taught a version of the same things that our Rep players practice weekly, making it a progression-based feeder system for players looking to play Rep basketball in the future.

About our Rep Program

Our Rep teams incorporate a unique season-long structure which prioritizes maximizing player development throughout the season while playing competitively and maintaining team structures. We aim to balance working on team-related items with allowing enough space for the player to enhance their skills, and emphasize their basketball IQ development, all while fostering a culture of healthy competition.

Our philosophy with our Rep Teams is to make sure we maintain a positive environment above all else and place great importance on harmony between players, parents, and coaches. All of our coaches are professionals and are certified under the Mitrovic Method, meaning that the same philosophies and fundamental principles are applied across all teams and age groups regardless of leadership. Each team practices three times per week. Two of these practices are dedicated primarily to working on team concepts and game preparation, while the third is dedicated entirely to individual skill development. This allows our players to focus concurrently on team and individual development throughout the season and ensures athletes are given enough space and tools needed to improve significantly throughout the competitive season. Far too often, we see players go through an entire season and improve very little because too much focus was placed on things that don’t promote their development.

About the “Skills, Foundations + Fundamentals” League

These weekly games provide players with the optimal competitive development experience throughout the season. The SFF League is a great option for athletes looking to: practice applying learned skills in live game action, increase their foundations of confidence in using those skills against real opponents, and apply their fundamental understanding of core basketball principles in a fast-paced environment.

Confidence in oneself and one’s abilities are enhanced through application and these competitive environments provide all athletes with both the instruction and support to take the next step in their games.

Our philosophy with our Houseleague is to emphasize teaching the game as a priority, rather than allowing athletes to play unorganized basketball. All athletes are given an initial player assessment on the first day and receive professional instruction week by week. We place significant focus on fundamental basketball IQ development which is a stepping stone to successfully transitioning into Rep basketball. With our European roots, many players have to adjust to a new style of play based more on movement and a team-first approach but find the game much easier to play once they do so.
